I was in the market for an oscilloscope, but I didn t want to spend much. I found out about Rigol and their line of $300-400 scopes, and was getting
ready to buy one. Then I found a post on how to make your ds1052e, which costs about $400 into a DS1102E, which costs about $700 with a simple firmware modification! I bought the scope right after, and I
received it in the mail today. It s pretty nice by default, but doubling the bandwidth is always a plus.
The ds1052e has a 50Mhz maximum frequency, but it has exactly the same hardware (as far as the reverse-engineering folks can tell) as the DS1102E,
which has a 100Mhz maximum. This guide will show you how to make the switch very easily using Linux. You can do it in Windows too, but it s a bit
more involved, and Linux makes it really really easy.

Margo Krager discovered an unusual source for her fabric retail/consulting business — an antique fabric sample book. It is called the Dargate book and it all started with a surprising phone call in 1997.
Krager is a textile historian and owner of ReproductionFabrics.com, an online fabric retailer. In addition to providing reproductions of period
fabrics to costumers and quilters; she also works with Windam Fabrics to bring reproduction fabrics to the marketplace. Many reproduction designs are
based on fabrics found in old quilts and garments at museums or private collections. For Krager, that changed with finding the Dargate Book.
She calls it the Dargate Book because of the way she acquired it. One busy Monday morning, she received a phone call from Dan Zibco, a plastics
manufacturer in Cleveland, Ohio, that struck at the very center of her passion for reproduction fabrics. “Would she be interested in buying a book of
old fabric samples?”
Zibco had purchased an auction lot of antique furniture from the Dargate Auction House in Pittsburgh. Buried in the lot of goods was a slipcase containing a fabric sample book. Not interested in antique books (or fabric), Zibco consigned it to an
antique book dealer to no avail. Anxious to recoup some of his investment in the auction lot, he also searched the Internet for a possible buyer and
found Krager.
A book dealer who had looked at the piece dated it to the early 1800s, but the slip case had been added later.

A Y strainer is shaped like a letter Y. It has a removable end that allows the strainer to be cleaned. Y strainers are typically used in
pressurized gas or liquid lines where only small amounts of solid particulate matter are expected.
Pressure Rating
Y strainers have pressure ratings, so you should choose one that has a rating suitable for your system. Similarly, you should make sure the piping to
which the strainer is to be connected is not at an angle or offset, to prevent undue stress on threads or flanges.
Location
In a hot water system, a Y strainer is important because it traps any rust or scale circulating in the water. It should be installed immediately prior to the hot water
circulating pump to prevent particulate matter from entering the impeller, or rotor, of the pump.
Servicing
A Y strainer should be installed with one valve before and one valve after the strainer itself. This means the strainer can be serviced without

A valve stem is a self-contained valve which opens to admit gas to a chamber (such as air to inflate a tire), and is then automatically closed and
kept sealed by the pressure in the chamber, or a spring, or both, to prevent the gas from escaping. They are most commonly used on automobile and

Schrader
Schrader valves (also called American valves) consist of a valve stem into which a poppet valve is threaded with a spring attached. They are used on virtually all automobile tires, and in the United
States, on most wider rimmed bicycle tires. In addition to tires, Schrader valves of varying diameters are used in refrigeration and air conditioning
systems, plumbing, fuel injection engines, suspension systems, and SCUBA regulators, allowing the user to remove and attach the hose while in use.
Another use for Schrader valves is in the fuel injector rail of many automobiles, where it is used as a quick and easy point to check fuel pressure
and to connect a cleaner injection device or cleaner cartridge.
